Hindrances on the way to publication

I had this whole thing all worked out: a list of projects to get to, including a revamped, ultra-hot website, consistent posts on my blog, doing the questions and answers for my first stop on a blog tour, and so forth. What I didn't count on butting in was life. Real life. Read here: life and death matters.

See, it doesn't matter how dedicated we are to pursuing our publishing dreams, to meeting deadlines, and so forth, because sometimes, life just happens, and the best intentions have to be laid aside. For us, it was an ultra-close call for my husband with death itself, via a severe artery clog. Fortunately, the block was able to be removed via the use of a stent, but it also required a week in the hospital.

For me, that meant a week in the hospital as well. Priorities fell into place, and it was suddenly very easy to focus on the most important thing: family.

And isn't that what our holiday season is all about? Miracles. Family. Loved Ones. For us, it wasn't simply the miracle of life itself, but also the reaffirming of the most basic foundations of a relationship - love and commitment. Yeah, I want my book to come out. But more than that, I want to be close to my family and loved ones, and to have them all healthy and vibrant.

Thus my heart-felt prayer of thankfulness to the Powers that be for our very own Christmas miracle.

And what a miracle it was Katie! Those moments come hard, and often stay too long, but the resulting feeling of family and gratitude always remind us of our real values. Thanks for the gentle reminder to concentrate on that which is most important to my own heart.

You can have all the money in the world but if you don't have your family and health around you, then money means absolutely nothing.

You are blessed to have your hubby and everything turned out great.

May God continue to bless you and your family throughout 2009 and onward.

Katie, a miracle indeed! Sometimes things really do work out -- It's good to hear that your husband is recovering. Incidents like this show us where our priorities are -- or where they should be.
