When you live in the South, there are certain foods you can count on eating on New Year's Day. Black-eyed peas, cornbread, collards, and sometimes (not me, thank God), hog jowls and chitlins.
But that's the thing about New Year's Eve and Day. There's the ball dropping at Times Square, there are fireworks and people cheering. There's even the horrid meals (can't you tell I didn't grow up in the South?).
But what if you're looking at your new year? Have you made plans for your writing, are you becoming more organized? Does your work-in-progress look a little better with the advent of the new year? This is the time to break free from some traditions, to become bold (but not arrogant) and to press forward towards your writing goals.
What about you? What are your goals and ambitions for the new year?
