I tell you, grandmas had the right idea for both boys and girls: sugar and spice and everything nice for the gals, and snails and puppy dog tails for the boys.
That's the way we should spice up our writing: should have equal parts of sugar and spice, but throw some adventure in, some snails and puppy dog tails (no, not the real thing, LOL). No book should be too good, or too bad, but should reflect who we are as a society and as individuals.
Without proper character development, full of "normal" flaws, our works become ho-hums instead of ho-hos.
Hope you have Happy Holidays, and good writing.

So true, Katie. I raised boys, so thankfully it's been easier for me to write from a male prospective than from a girlie-girl's. But I think it's important to be well-rounded.
