A message to all members of cpsia-central
As many of you know, Rep Dingell sent a letter (see my recent blog entry from Marth 4th) last week to the CPSC asking a series of questions about the CPSIA, and the need for amendments. We have been encouraging everyone to prepare a letter to be sent to Rep Dingall and the CPSC to make sure they know the answers to these questions from our perspective. Rick Woldenberg has set up a central email address that letters can be sent to, in order to ensure the letters do not get lost among other emails.
See Rick's blog for more information. www.learningresourcesinc.blogspot.com
Here is the email address to send your letters:
The responses will be gathered and delivered to the CPSC and to Rep. Dingell's office.
Also, if you have not seen it yet, Rep Barton sent Rep Al Waxman and others a very strong letter about the CPSIA, and referred to some of your stories which were submitted a few weeks ago. These personal stories are of utmost importance. Please continue to make yourselves heard.
Sincerely,
Rob Wilson

Katie,
I have followed this debate with growing unease and trepidation from a distance of several thousand miles EAST of you, namely the UK.
I am extremely concerned that I have been COMPLETELY unable to raise ANY INTEREST WHATSOEVER amongst writers and readers in the UK.
How far have things progressed in the US?
It used to be said that when America catches a cold, the rest of the world catches pneumonia. What will happen to us if you get 'steamrollered' by Big Business?
Regards
Paul
We're not being "steamrolled" by big business, but by our own government.
The media for the most part refuses to acknowledge any problem with the law.
Many people called me an alarmist when I've tried to tell them there is a dangerous problem. They told me that I was mistaken, that everything is already tested, that I was trying to stir up trouble where there wasn't any. They asked me why I was wasting my time and energy on something that didn't matter.
Some of those people have now joined the fight, but I became very tired of fighting them, trying to get them to see the danger of the CPSIA.
Many people still don't believe there is a problem (actually there are many serious problems), and a huge number of people still do not know about the law and what it is doing and will do.
No, big business isn't the cause of our dilemma. In fact many of them are impacted negatively by the CPSIA, too.

If your Government is directly involved, then all I can say is , the problem is exponentially MUCH greater than I had imagined it to be!
On the other hand, is there ANYTHING which I can do (on THIS side of "The Pond") to stop people sleepwalking into the same trap? Or at the very least HELP your campaign???????
