After commenting on several blogs, I decided to come to mine and make my post for the day. I had bookmarked the site, but couldn't log on as my username email and password didn't match. Figures.
I think all of us have found ourselves in that position a time or two...maybe even more. The thing is that I have a file that lists all usernames and passwords, but for some reason, forgot to all the sign-in name/password for blogger.
That didn't help, did it? Blogger sent me an email to my site, but I still couldn't figure out my password, because they just offered a link. Their email said if that didn't work, I could try again in five days. Five days? I'm endeavoring to post every day and I have a guess coming to my blog this Wednesday!
Finally, desperately, I typed my blog's url in the place provided by Google. Doggone if my blog didn't show up and with a swift "click" I found my dashboard. Whew! Crisis averted...sorta. What if I get kicked off my blog for some reason, like a computer restart? Then I'm back in the same situation - username and password don't match.
So if I disappear from view for a week or so, you'll know why! Moral of this story: keep your username and passwords religiously in a special place no one else knows and list all those boogers.

Remember the days when the only thing we needed to memorize was one phone number!?!

I have my list and keep it in or near my day planner. So many sites, so many ID's and passwords. Well, the good thing is it will keep our brains young and flexible.
You brought back what I hope are days that are gone forever! I absolutely feel so stupid & dumb on those days. I have a notebook where I list all the user names & passwords for myself. I keep it close to the computer. I hope you don't have this problem any too soon!
I have a notebook with my passwords listed in it, plus a small cheat sheet for my purse, where I abbreviate what the passwords are.
Still, I make up passwords on the fly sometimes and forget to enter them, and of course can't remember them.

And you can very easily avoid that by having the dashboard remember you on that computer - and I have my dashboard saved in a folder on my favorites list under blogs and related items. I have folders for many different things with links and other info that I may need.
I also try to avoid having too many passwords and use similar ones for most of the sites I need passwords - varying a number or two but hardly ever varying the password word itself - just so I can remember everything - lol
Hope these help - E :)
Hi Katie,
Thanks for visiting my blog. Just a reminder please look carefully at the small print below the posts, for a place to leave your comments. Good for you, that you won the 'lost password' battle. Everyone has done that at least once online, I know I have.

I cannot begin to tell you just how many times this has happened to me, and it got worse when I used to have to change passwords every quarter.
Here's hoping you come up with a good system! :D

Boy, can I relate to losing things needed for online. I've spent many hours searching every file to find one link.
thanks for the reminder to be more 'aware' and 'careful', Katie.
Years ago, I got an address book which I dedicated to passwords and log-ons and user IDs. I see it as comparable to the president's football filled with the missle codes!
I know how you feel. I have 8 email boxes, each with different passwords, then there are a few places I have shopped online, then websites and blog, then I visit blogs that require a different password in order to comment, and on and on it goes.
I keep a digital list in two different places, plus a back-up -- and still there have been times when I forgot to write down a password because I thought I'd never need it again.
