Concern over the new bill that goes into effect in February, I have decided to do a second post today. Publisher's Weekly has a new article out about the Consumer Product Safety Act. Check it out to see how the publishing industry is reacting to this ill-conceived bill.

Wow! Everything seems to come back to bite us in the "end".

When will our leaders learn to think things through BEFORE passing legislation!

Sometimes those lawmakers are over cautious and screw things up. Once it's done,it will be hard to change it.

Sometimes the biggest mistakes or messes are those that come about because no one thought first.

I blogged about this recently as well, putting up the Publisher's Weekly link, as well as the actual law and a few other links. It's rather scary if you ask me!

And I saw your listserv comments about responding. That's the bummer about blogging vs. social sites - you can't 'comment' directly back to the person. Oh well!

This law is insane. They are going after the end result istead of the manufactures of the individual componets that make up the product. They most definetly weren't thinking when they came up with this one!
