I'm a hopelessly patriotic citizen, so I didn't want to post today until after the inauguration of Barack Obama. Those of you from other countries, bear with me. This is not a politically correct, or uncorrect post; rather, a post about pride and country.
When the flag waved, I cried. When those who held the highest offices stepped forward, I cried. When Mr. Obama was sworn in, I cried (even though he botched a couple of lines of the oath). When the choir sang, I cried.
I believe that our country is facing difficult times; I believe our country will face more difficult times before the tide changes for the better.
I cannot say that I voted for Barack Obama, because I didn't. However, I respect the office of the President (Didn't President Obama deliver a doggone great speech?). When the national anthem cried forth, my heart was already stirred, but once again, I felt the pride in my country, in the people who hold our highest elected offices, and I know, yes I know, that whatever lies ahead for my country, that I'm proud to be an American. God bless the U.S.A.

Yes, President Obama is a stirring orator indeed.
I hope and pray the future for the U.S. is a good one.
I think the flubs in the oath just shows President Obama is human. I can only imagine how nervous he was.
You couldn't have said it better.
He's our president and represents our country. As such, we owe him our respect.

Excellent post. Here's hoping we can pull together as a nation and get ourselves out of the mess we're in.
I heard someone compare it to when John F. Kennedy became president.

The flubbing of the oath came from the guy swearing him in. That's what you get from trying to do something from memory on such an occasion as swearing in the President of the United States. Ovverall, it was a great day to be glued to the TV or in the Capital of the United States. E :)
