Back to the 'ole grind

Yesterday, we had a great interview with Lea Wait, children's author. If you didn't read her interview, scroll down and enjoy.

It doesn't seem to matter how much I get done in a day, the next there are always lots of things to do. Today, I face the fact that my husband and I are closing our online business. The decision was something that needed to be done because we were facing quite a bit of cost, with little return, each month. AND, the state's Department of Revenue wanted their share of our very small pie.

So, my goal for today is to "get rid of" the business, close business accounts with the Department of Revenue, and hopefully file our last tax return for it.

I know this isn't simply about writing today, but in a sense it is. I know that if I feel snowed under by the mundane everyday living, you must feel that way sometimes, too. The more those things pull at me, the longer it takes me to get back to my writing.

Sigh. I know I shouldn't let these things pull down on me, but they always somehow do, and I experience a bit of tightening of the chest when I have to face anything that has to do with money and the Dept. of Revenue! No matter how honest I know we've been in our business dealings, still, the thought of voluntarily contacting them is anxiety-producing.

But, I'm determined to get that behind me, and move on to the other things that I enjoy immensely: greeting people on my emails, checking links, work on marketing & promo, and best of all, writing on my next book.

Hope you get over this "hump" quickly and back to fun things.

Sometimes, ya just gotta do what ya gotta do. Good post. Very transparent and honest.

Sorry your business is closing, though it sounds like it's for the best. At least you actually DID something that cool! It takes guts to start your own business like that.

It's hard to let go of things, but sometimes the psychic boost from clearing out the ineffective things is really wonderful.

I have a form to fill out by the
22nd for the IL Dept of Revenue. I've put it off because I hate messing with numbers. Will tackle it this weekend and get it over with, I hope.

I know what you mean by all those bits and pieces. Just got the tax for my "business" from my city, and paid the estimated taxes, state and fed. There sure isn't much left after that.

I wish you the best with your writing!

I think the very letters IRS fill most of us with dread. I'm sorry that your online business has to close and wish you a good year. Let's hope for a better year for all Americans.
